Back to work…
The fact that these guys aren’t floundering around on the inside on wooden boogie boards disgusts me.
Well MA, it’s about variety ain’t it? I would mix it up on waves like this. Bonzer; single, thruster … but not Paipo (I would not be skilled enough on one).
I would question whether variety is the cliched “spice of life” in this case. It’s not physically possible to be skilled on a wooden boogieboard in waves of consequence… such as the ones depicted here. But wooden boogieboarding does provide intense humor for the observer, so I can’t knock it completely.
Bonzer, single and any other retro “look at me and how cool I am” batwinged bullshit is fine by me. If that’s what you need to ride, then have at it… inherent humor be damned.
but you don’t know as you will never know. EOS.
See, that’s where your own issues are shining through MA. It is your ego projecting that it could only be “look at me and how cool I am”.
Some of us just like riding different stuff, experimenting with what we personally have not ridden before, and don’t give a stuff who is around or is into it. In fact some of us get to surf without anyone else around so there is an impossibility for the “look at me” model.
But that obviously doesn’t happen in your neck of the woods. You’re reading the world through your glasses and maybe under the heavy influence of an industry shaking this “retro” design thing for all the $ it can. I can understand your skepticism, given those conditions.
It’s less the case in my world, and definitely there is a different attitude amongst my mates to riding various designs here in Australia. It’s the self-declared “surf culture police who cannot ride anything but a PU thruster and not even that well” that provide the laughs in my world.
As long as you get your lol’s at my expense, then I will know that all is right with the world…
MA you sound like the biggest knob i have ever come accross.
ps whats all this talk of wooden bodyboards? Is there footage of wooden bodyboards in good waves here somewhere?
Matt, some of us have been checking out paipos and their design and riders. Some people are doing interesting things with them and have for a long time, people I respect:
check the young George G here, can be done… and it only gets better with age
in case you had lingering doubts
