Margarets burns

250 kilometres south of Perth in Western Australia, Margaret River is a coastal town famous for  surf, wine, country living and holiday havens, and passionate locals. Last month the town made news world wide as bush fires ripped through the shire and caused the loss of dozens of homes, mercifully without loss of life.

As the fire raged near Margaret River township, local tour guide Sean Blocksidge left work to join his brigade of volunteer bush fire fighters and over the next few day took some images from in and around the areas most heavily affected by the fires.

Sean speaks to ABC South West WA’s Meghan Woods about his experience and the video above is a combination of Sean’s interview and his images.
