Vale Peter Troy

Australian surf pioneer Peter Troy died at his Sunshine Coast home yesterday. Troy, who introduced surfing to England and helped discover Nias, died unexpectedly from a blood clot on his lung. Known for his relentless global wandering – see his map below – he was also a founder of the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame and one-time owner of Mudjimba Island on the Sunshine Coast. Troy leaves behind his wife Libby. He was 69 years old.
